Our LGBTQ Writer’s Happy Hour is expanding… and changing our name. We are adding a special guest to our future events that will help lead a roundtable discussion about writing, editing, publishing, and opportunities for queer writers. This will be followed by a mixer with wine and snacks. To account for our changes we will now call our happy hours a literary salon. But expect the same fun and the same people, but with an added twist.
We our honored that our first guest will be editor Don Weise of Querelle Press. Don Weise has been an editor and publisher of primarily LGBT writing for the past twenty-five years. Among the writers he has worked with are Gore Vidal, James Purdy, Edmund White, Samuel R. Delany, John Rechy, Leslie Feinberg, Ann Bannon, and Christopher Bram. He's publisher of Querelle Press and the author of two books about the Civil Rights Movement. His work has been recognized for distinction by Publishers Weekly, the American Library Association, and Out magazine. He lives in Manhattan
This event will start at 6:30pm with our roundtable discussion with Don Weise, and will be followed by a mixer at 7:30pm, running until 9pm. Our LGBTQ Writers Salons will be informal, inclusive, and supportive in nature with the goal of building a long-term sustained community. As usual, there will be wine, snacks, and friendly discussion. This event is 100% FREE and OPEN to all LGBTQ writers and allies, as well as all Paragraph members (we know you are all allies!). Members, alumni, and Jane Hoppen applicants are welcome to bring a plus one.
